Frequently Asked Questions About Units A unit is a small group of League members, meeting at locations throughout the city, to explore governmental issues through discussion. The units meet monthly from September through June. What's the purpose of unit meetings? In unit meetings, members increase their knowledge about government, arrive at League positions on governmental policies, and decide what courses of action are needed to put these positions into effect. Here is a schedule of Unit Meetings. Before attending for the first time, call the office (213-368-1616) to confirm that the unit will be meeting this month. Call the office (213-368-1616) first to make sure that there has been no last minute change in the meeting date, time and/or location. Then just show up at the meeting. New members are always welcome. Must I attend the Unit in my area? No. You may attend whichever unit you'd like. In fact, why not try a few and see what suits you? Comments, suggestions, questions?
