The National Voter Engagement Network provides nonprofits with free resources to incorporate voter participation activities into their ongoing work. LWVLA is co-sponsoring NVEN's first Los Angeles training on Thursday, September 18. A forum on school financing. Are you: Frustrated with the state budget process? Worried about its impact on our schools? Advocating for increased school funding? Calling for more accountability? The League of Women Voters of California Education Committee (PK-12), the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica, and the Santa Monica-Malibu Council of PTAs invite you to a forum on school financing. This meeting will feature presentations on our current program activities and planning for future program including advocacy, education, or study. This is the time at which positions are reviewed, and members suggest studies the League should undertake next year. Members also make recommendations on next year's program for LWV California. Friday, January 9, 2009-Monday, January 26, 2009	Various	Various	January Unit Meetings - Consensus on Los Angeles City Retirement Benefits. At this meeting members of the Local Finance Study Committee will lead a discussion on retirement benefits provided City of Los Angeles Employees with the goal of reaching a LWVLA position. LWVLA can read a draft study report and the consensus questions on the Members Only website. There will be no presentations at the Culver City, Los Virgenes, or Sunland/Tujunga Units, but members of these units can attend a different unit meeting. Locations and times

Come to the League of Women Voters League Day to learn, discuss, ask questions, and engage in the consensus process to adopt a position by LWVUS on the National Popular Vote Compact.
