City of Los Angeles Candidates Forum
On December 8, 2009, there will be a council district 2 special runoff election of candidates seeking to fill the current vacancy. The two contenders, Paul Krekorian and Christine Essel, participated in a candidates forum. The forum will be co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles Education Fund.

The runoff election follows the September 22 special election where 13.34% of the registered voters cast ballots for approximately ten candidates. The position was vacated by Councilmember Wendy Greuel who on March 3 won election as city controller. More information about the candidates are available on Smart Voter.
